TERMINOLOGY
QUESTIONS TO ANSWER BEFORE YOU BUY
Q. What are you using the product for?
-
Archival or store rooms - See the narrow aisle pro (KNA) or light weight (KL) ranges
-
In a warehouse for picking and packing - See the industrial (KE) or extra wide (KW) ranges
-
Warehouse maintenance - heavy duty (KHD) range
-
Machine maintenance, loading unloading trucks - See the access platform (KAP) or truck dock platform (KTD) ranges
Q. What height will you need to work at?
This height is measured from the floor to between the waist and shoulders when the user is standing on the platform. You will notice that our dimensions tables all have a 'Working Height' measurement which you can match up to your own. The measurement for Working Height on each product page shows the height from the top of the pulpit rail on the rear of the unit to the average shoulder height (750mm).
Q. Do you have any height restrictions into the building?
Check to see if there are any tight doorways or halls which your step needs to fit through to get to the required working area, also look to see if there are any low hanging lights or beams which it may not fit under!
Q. What space or aisle width do you need to use the unit in?
We offer several ranges which may suit your needs...
-
narrow aisle pro range (KNA) range: Overall widths range from 590mm - 630mm, this range should be used only between racking or where space is at a minimum!
-
industrial (KE) & knock down (KK) range: The back axles range from 850mm - 1320mm, these ranges can be used in any space.
-
extra wide (KW), heavy duty (KHD), access platforms (KAP) & truck dock (KTD) range: The back axles range from 995mm - 1470mm, these ranges can be used in any space.
Q. When using your step, will you need to exit the top platform?
If so you will require a walk through option, see the modifications page for more details. Please note that platform exit options are not available on steps with plunger castors.
Q. Do you need to use this unit up against mezzanine flooring or a container wall?
If so you may require straight back legs so the unit fits flush up to where you need to work! We offer a modification to our standard industrial range called 'Flush Back Legs', for more information visit our modifications page.
Q. Is the standard working platform large enough?
Most of our Commercial and Industrial ranges come with a 400mm deep platform, however if this is not large enough, we can extend it up to 1000mm long dependent on the size of the unit, see our modifications page for more details! If you still require further space on the platform we would suggest looking at the access platform (KAP) or truck dock (KTD) range!
Aisle racking :
When using your product in conjunction with aisle racking, please check if any part of product extends at floor level. If it does, this may prevent the wheels from fitting closely to the racking enabling you to pick and pack without overreaching.
Platform extensions :
If you opt to elongate your working platform length, please note this will also increase the units overall length by the same amount.
Side exits :
If you choose to add a side exit to your working platform, remember that the wheels at the bottom of all units with axles (and axle bracings on ranges that have a 13,14 and 15 tread options), will require space underneath. This may cause a gap between the platform and the surface you wish to access. Please contact us to discuss custom options to address this issue.
